Our history

Mayor Sylvester Turner designates August 6, 2022, as Salvadoran American Day in Houston, recognizing contributions and cultural heritage.

Dia Del Salvadoran in Houston 2022 delivered an unforgettable celebration of music and culture.

Having been designated by Mayor Sylvester Turner on August 6, 2022, the event marked the inaugural Salvadoran American Day in Houston.

Held at Bayland Park on October 23,  this historic celebration showcased incredible music performances by renowned artists like La Orquesta San Vicente and Alex Bueno, alongside talented local and emerging artists.

It was not just a music fest; it was an opportunity for brands to align with a momentous cultural event, gaining visibility among thousands of attendees and media coverage.

The community joined in creating a new chapter of unity and joy within the Salvadoran/Latin community, celebrating our culture in the heart of Houston with togetherness and fun.

Our Past Successful Festivals

2022

Houston celebrated its first-ever Salvadoran Day Festival in grand style on Sunday, October 23, at Bayland Park, 6400 Bissonet Street, Houston, Texas 77074, from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm.

The festival was a total celebration featuring music, children’s games, clowns, and typical Salvadoran food.

The entertainment was guaranteed with performances by Orquesta San Vicente, Tito Mira y su Chanchona, bachata artist Álex Bueno, DJ JC Houston, and DC Chico.

Esteemed Houston entertainment figures and Salvadoran journalist Deysi Álvarez from Telemundo 52 hosted the event.

2023

The August 6, 2023, Salvadoran Day in Houston at George Bush Park was a vibrant festival, building on the success of the 2022 event with over 20,000 attendees.

Featuring artists from El Salvador and the Dominican Republic, the festival showcased local talents, renowned DJs, and lively performances.

Hosted by Deysi Alvarez and Josefina Mercado, it served as a platform for emerging artists.

The Day of the Salvadoran in Houston created a united, joyous Salvadoran/Latin community, celebrating culture outside our countries with unity and immense fun.
